Vlad Fisun: Mixmag
For our first post of the series, we’re spotlighting a strictly vinyl session from Kyiv-based DJ Vlad Fisun for Mixmag. Known for his deep passion for vinyl and Ukrainian music, Fisun has crafted a mix that spans over three decades of Ukrainian dance music, celebrating the country’s vibrant heritage.
This mix is a tribute to the resilience of Ukraine’s music scene, blending tracks from the early days of independence in 1991 to modern-day releases. His selection not only showcases the diversity of genres that have flourished in Ukraine — from early experimental sounds to modern techno and house — but also serves as a powerful tribute to the country’s enduring spirit, especially during these challenging times. Due to ongoing electricity challenges in Ukraine, the mix was recorded in two parts and carefully edited into one seamless piece, adding a unique layer to its narrative.
Fisun’s mix isn’t just a collection of tracks; it’s a journey through the evolution of Ukrainian electronic music, offering a powerful glimpse into a scene that continues to thrive despite adversity. Tune in to explore the sounds that define Ukraine’s underground music culture.
